About Jessica mountain, LICSW, LISW
You don’t have to carry this all on your own.
I’m a Twin Cities-based therapist specializing in working with individuals dealing with trauma, perimenopause/menopause struggles, difficult life transitions, challenges in relationships, and other stressors.
i want you to know
You deserve to be a priority.
Taking the time to care for yourself amid a busy life often feels low priority but, as I often say, you can’t draw water from an empty well. If your own energy, compassion, and empathy are drained you won’t be able to show up in life the way that you envision. Self-care is the most important thing you can do to be the best version of yourself.
How I work
I believe strongly in connection and collaboration in therapy.
Together we will explore your goals for therapy and find a path that resonates with you. I have experience with a wide variety of clients managing many different issues, but you are the expert on your life so we will combine our skills to help you reach your goals. I don’t see it as my role to tell you how to make change or tell you what to do to feel better, but to walk alongside you while we navigate these challenges together.
As an EMDR trained therapist, I view people as a culmination of the experiences they have had throughout their lives. I will meet you with empathy, humor, and compassion to help create the space to better understand how your experiences have led you to where you are now.
Therapy with me is…
-
The strength of the therapeutic relationship is the best predictor of successful therapy and that is my priority. I want you to feel heard, seen, and respected which is why I approach therapy as a collaboration. I won’t push an agenda on you or tell you what you need to change. Instead, together we will create a plan that targets your areas for growth.
-
I am not the type of therapist to nod and tell you what is easy to hear. I will likely challenge you, ask difficult questions, and give you honest responses. Often with irreverence and occasionally colorful language, but always with empathy.
-
Discretion and privacy are essential to creating safety in therapy. I am committed to following all legal and ethical privacy guidelines. Also, I do not use AI tools for record keeping in my practice.
In addition, I recognize that some professions (aviation, jobs requiring a security clearance, etc.) require more discretion when it comes to therapy. I’m happy to discuss what that might look like if applicable.

A little bit about me…
I was a military spouse for over twenty years, moving around the world with my husband and two sons. We decided to move back to Minnesota because it is a beautiful place to live and has always been home. In my free time I love to spend time with my family, read books, go to concerts, and walk my dogs.
